It's a challenge for Australia to break new ground.

The top summits have already been conquered.

We're talking about the unit that has claimed seven Cricket World Cups, along with an additional six T20 titles, and once went over three years unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, targeted by the record chasers, are the only things left for a side that has won it all.

It needed up to Sunday's victory by three wickets over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase above 300, reclaiming their record for the biggest in the women's 50-over format, is, in truth, a testament to the pitchers that have worn canary yellow over the last half-century.

It is hard for their batters to maintain a record if not provided the chance.

Finally, the consequence of Australia conceding 330 was leader Alyssa Healy receiving a chance to create her newest gem.

Initially recognized as the young family member of famous ex Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she first played in 2010 after her nation couldn't capture either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups from the prior year and has seen it all through 15 successful years since.

Success in the T20 World Cup came three months after her debut and seven international trophies have resulted from 10 attempts across formats.

The tough gloveman was present as well in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final setback by India briefly halted the run of success.

That loss "drove us to reevaluate our levels," Healy said this week.

At the next 50-over World Cup in New Zealand, Healy hit 170 against England in the title decider and was awarded tournament MVP. She made sure her country would not fall short again.

The question of whether this latest epic knock exceeded that prior achievement can be debated.

Some will argue the argument supporting championship match pressure. Some might respond with the difficulty that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What's clear is this hundred was much more difficult to anticipate.

The Christchurch carnage in 2022 came as she was the highest scorer, but this innings came after six matches in India since the start of last month in which she had failed to pass 30.

"If you've been watching me in the nets, it has been a frustrating experience because it appeared I've had no rhythm whatsoever," commented Healy.

"However when you enter the playing area, your competitive instincts kick in and you just lock into the contest."

Healy's competitiveness has always been her key asset - and a priceless quality in replacing iconic ex-skipper Meg Lanning.

She was troubled by India's emerging talent Kranti Gaud in last month's ODI series, dismissed by the emerging pace bowler in every game, but this time it merely gave Healy's inspiration.

One run resulted off the opening delivery and from that point Healy was in motion.

"An opportunity to take the field and lock in a contest with her and simply enjoy myself in that aspect, sort of got me going," said Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 pitches - her quickest at a World Cup - and her century in 84 balls as she flogged anything short, striking 21 boundaries and three sixes.

When she was out the team needed 66 more at run per delivery - an unconquered height now demanding an easy conclusion.

"Pursuing 330 is new territory so I am glad we have the assurance to achieve that now," continued Healy.

"Ideally we won't need to do it again but, if we do, we are confident we can do it."

These statements will be the final thing Australia's opponents at this championship want to hear.

Over the past five days a feeling they will win from any position has become more firm - this success following victory over Pakistan by 107-run victory despite struggling at 76-7 at one stage.

Next Australia play Bangladesh before an encounter with traditional opponents England in Indore in a week and a half, by which point a semi-final place may likely be confirmed.

It was in the semi-finals they were eliminated from the prior year's T20 World Cup in a surprising setback by South Africa - a match Healy couldn't play because of torn tissue in her foot as she captained her nation for the first time at an important competition.

So strong is her resolve, she subsequently stated she wished she had played through the pain.

However although she afterwards confessed those fitness problems have postponed consideration of ending her career, this World Cup is likely to be her final tournament as skipper in one-day cricket and she is yet to win a global event as leader.

Victory in India would take her to the summit of her last major obstacle.
